From Surfboard to Story
This piece began as a well-loved surfboard from the 1970s — a board that had already lived a full life in the water. My client wanted to transform it into something lasting — an heirloom his family could keep for generations.
The original Encinitas logo was important to preserve, so I reimagined it as a glowing mosaic sun rising over the ocean. The fin I carefully removed found a new life as the sail of a small boat, marked with his initials. With his Scandinavian roots, the boats naturally took on a subtle Viking feel — strong, simple forms moving through layered waves of glass and stone. A quiet nod to heritage, adventure, and life tied to the sea.
